Cloaking: analytical theory for benchmark structures

چکیده
Proceeding from the scattered field expansion in cylindrical harmonics, we define partial invisibility or cloaking as suppression of finitely many lowest-order harmonics. We show that for benchmark structures (a dielectric rod and a perfectly conducting cylinder circular cross section covered by concentric layer), such multiple can be achieved. For this purpose, prove solvability explicitly determine solution corresponding equation system which provide vanishing coefficients resulting simultaneous up to five investigate character qualitative properties analyzing patterns.

Parallel-plate metamaterials for cloaking structures.
In this work, we assess theoretically the physical response of metamaterial composite structures that emulate the behavior of negative-permittivity materials in certain relevant setups. The metamaterials under analysis consist of metallic parallel-plate implants embedded in a dielectric host in a two-dimensional geometry. Simple design rules and formulas are presented, fully considering the eff...
متن کاملElastic cloaking theory
Transformation theory is developed for the equations of linear anisotropic elasticity. The transformed equations correspond to non-unique material properties that can be varied for a given transformation by selection of the matrix relating displacements in the two descriptions. This gauge matrix can be chosen to make the transformed density isotropic for any transformation although the stress i...
متن کاملAcoustic cloaking theory
An acoustic cloak is a compact region enclosing an object, such that sound incident from all directions passes through and around the cloak as though the object was not present. A theory of acoustic cloaking is developed using the transformation or change-of-variables method for mapping the cloaked region to a point with vanishing scattering strength. We show that the acoustical parameters in t...
متن کاملSpherical cloaking with homogeneous isotropic multilayered structures.
We propose a practical realization of electromagnetic spherical cloaking by layered structure of homogeneous isotropic materials. By mimicking the classic anisotropic cloak by many alternating thin layers of isotropic dielectrics, the permittivity and permeability in each isotropic layer can be properly determined by effective medium theory in order to achieve invisibility. The model greatly fa...
متن کاملFull-wave simulations of electromagnetic cloaking structures.
Pendry et al. have reported electromagnetically anisotropic and inhomogeneous shells that, in theory, completely shield an interior structure of arbitrary size from electromagnetic fields without perturbing the external fields. Neither the coordinate transformation-based analytical formulation nor the supporting ray-tracing simulation indicate how material perturbations and full-wave effects mi...
